Veneers are thin shells of porcelain or resin bonded to the front of your teeth to change their color, shape or size. At Smile & Align, your veneers are designed by Dr. Laura Villanueva, a dentist who focuses on cosmetic dentistry. Before we touch a tooth, we show you how your smile would look, and depending on the material they are placed in two or three visits.
When are veneers a good fit?
When the problem is how your teeth look, not where they sit. For example:
If your teeth are crooked, it often makes sense to line them up first with Invisalign: less of the tooth is filed down and the veneer looks more natural.
Porcelain or resin?
Both look good. They differ in how long they last, how they are made and how much the tooth is worked on.

How much do veneers cost in Cancun?

What happens to my teeth if I get veneers?
For the veneer to sit flush, a thin layer of enamel is often removed, and that can't be recovered. In some cases it can be done with no reshaping or very little. We tell you plainly what your case needs before we start.
How long do veneers last?
Porcelain veneers usually last more than 10 years, and resin ones a few years less, as long as they are well cared for.
Do they look natural?
Yes, if they are designed for your face. That's why we settle on shape, size and shade with you before placing them, and we don't aim for a white that doesn't look real.
Does getting veneers hurt?
No. If the tooth needs to be prepared, local anesthesia is used. Afterward your teeth may feel sensitive for a few days.
Veneers or whitening?
If your teeth have a good shape and you only want them lighter, whitening may be enough and it doesn't touch the enamel. Veneers make sense when you also want to change the shape or size, or cover stains that don't lighten.
Do veneers stain?
Porcelain veneers don't stain. Resin ones can lose their shine or pick up color over time, especially with coffee, tea or tobacco.
How do I take care of them?
The same way you take care of your teeth: brushing, flossing and regular cleanings. Avoid biting very hard things with your front teeth and, if you clench at night, wear a night guard.
