What does orthodontics correct?

The position of your teeth and the way you bite. It isn't only cosmetic: a well-aligned bite is easier to clean and wears your teeth less.

  • Crowded or overlapping teeth.
  • Teeth with gaps between them.
  • Upper teeth that sit too far forward or too far back.
  • Open bite or crossbite.
  • Teeth that moved after a previous treatment.
  • Teeth that shifted when the wisdom teeth came in.

The types of braces we offer

Self-ligating

A small clip holds the wire, with no colored bands. There's less friction, adjustment visits are shorter and they are easier to clean. We use the Damon system.

Clear

Tooth-colored, so they show much less. They can also be self-ligating. They are the most popular choice among adults who work with the public.

Traditional metal

The classic ones, with bands that are changed at every visit. They work very well and are the most affordable option.

Don't want braces? With Invisalign your teeth move with clear aligners that you take out to eat.

Braces or Invisalign?

Both work. Which one suits you depends on your case and your daily life, and we tell you at the consultation.

  • Braces: they work 24 hours a day without you having to remember anything, and they handle complex cases very well.
  • Invisalign: they barely show and you take them out to eat and brush, but you have to wear them 20 to 22 hours a day.

Frequently asked questions

How much do braces cost in Cancun?

From MXN 10,000. The total depends on the type of braces (metal, clear or self-ligating), how far your teeth have to move and how long treatment takes. At the consultation, which costs MXN 1,000, we give you the exact cost in writing. You can pay in up to 12 interest-free monthly payments with all banks, or with financing.

How long does treatment with braces take?

It depends on the case. Between one and two years is the most common. At the consultation we give you an estimated time for your case.

What are self-ligating braces?

They are braces that hold the wire with a small clip instead of elastic bands. That means no bands to change at each visit, and adjustments go faster.

Do braces hurt?

Getting them put on doesn't hurt. For the first few days, and after each adjustment, you feel pressure or sensitive teeth; it passes in a few days. If a bracket rubs your cheek, orthodontic wax helps.

How often are the visits?

Every 4 weeks. At each visit we check how your teeth are doing and adjust the wire.

How much do teeth move per month?

Little by little, and how much depends on each case. That's why orthodontics takes time: moving teeth faster isn't healthier for the bone or the gums.

Braces or Invisalign?

Both work. Braces work all day without you having to remember anything; Invisalign barely shows, but you have to wear it 20 to 22 hours a day. At the consultation we tell you which suits your case.

How long do I wear retainers?

After the braces come off, teeth tend to drift back, so retainers are worn for a long time: all day at first, and then only at night. We give you fixed or removable Vivera retainers, depending on your case.

Is there an age limit for braces?

There's no age limit as long as your teeth and gums are healthy. We treat children, teens and adults; for the little ones we have a dentist for kids and Invisalign First.
